NEYA fight against plastic bags
Plastic pollution is one of the most serious epidemics of the 21st century. An estimated 8 million tonnes of non-reusable plastics fall to the oceans every year, putting the lives of thousands of marine species at risk. The NEYA Lisboa Hotel aims to raise awareness of this scourge and encourage behavior change in favor of the environment.
It launches the campaign NEYA Plastic Free, in addition to having already abolished the plastic straws on its premises, the hotel takes advantage of the International Day without Plastic Bags, on July 3, to present their guests with an organic cotton bag, of Greenbags, encouraging them not to use plastic bags during their stay and replicate this behavior in their daily lives.
Most of the plastic that is found in the oceans corresponds to disposable disposable ones, with about half an hour of use, like the plastic bags, whose consumption is equivalent to 500 billion per year. These objects are composed of toxic resins derived from petroleum and natural gas that take about 500 years to decompose.
NEYA Lisboa Hotel is committed to reducing these disposable objects as much as possible.
"Given our concept of sustainability, we have the responsibility to set an example and encourage our employees and guests to be more responsible for the environment." - reinforces Pedro Teixeira, Environment, Quality and Safety Engineer at the hotel.
